Adolfo Kaminsky: Forger and Photographer

Jewish resistance member, master forger, and prolific photographer, Kaminsky dedicated his life to his craft—first by reproducing thousands of forged documents to aid the escape of Jews and persecuted peoples from Nazi-occupied countries, then later as a photographer haunted by the unevenness of everyday postwar life. Through the juxtaposition of Kaminsky’s forged objects and photography, the exhibition explores how the artist found lifelong purpose in the tensions between art and activism.
