Location & Address:
The Jewish Museum
1109 Fifth Avenue at 92nd St
New York, NY 10128

In the morning, hear a lecture from author and historian Judith Goldstein, the founder of the human rights advocacy group Humanity in Action, about the remarkable history of Jews in Denmark, as well as how occupied Denmark was different from other occupied countries. After the lecture, staff members will demonstrate how to use the museum’s online exhibition, Danish Rescue: Compassion in Action, for teaching about resistance, resilience, and standing up for what is right.

After lunch, visit the Jewish Museum’s newly renovated galleries and experience the Museum’s program, Number the Stars, developed for classes that have read Lois Lowry’s award-winning book. Respond to works of art and artifacts that connect to themes of resistance, hope, and memorial, and make connections with historical events.
