Unorthodox podcast host Stephanie Butnick moderates this lively happy hour discussion with essayist and novelist Sloane Crosley and debut novelist Isabel Kaplan, two writers who excel at capturing the cultural moment. Their new novels -- Crosley's Cult Classic and Kaplan's NSFW -- offer smart, searing social observations and embody the complicated ethos of modern-day New York City and Los Angeles, respectively.

Sloane Crosley is the author of the novel The Clasp and three essay collections: Look Alive Out There and the New York Times bestsellers I Was Told There'd Be Cake and How Did You Get This Number. A two-time finalist for the Thurber Prize for American Humor and a contributing editor at Vanity Fair, she lives in New York City. Her new novel, Cult Classic, was published in June 2022.

Isabel Kaplan is the author of the national bestselling novel NSFW, which has been shortlisted for The Center for Fiction's First Novel Prize, as well as the national bestselling young adult novel Hancock Park. She graduated from Harvard and holds an MFA in creative writing from NYU.

Stephanie Butnick is a host of Unorthodox, the #1 Jewish podcast, and director of podcasts for Tablet Magazine. She is the author, along with her podcast co-hosts, of The Newish Jewish Encyclopedia: From Abraham to Zabar's and Everything in Between
