The Making of a Danish Rescue Film: "A Day In October" 30 Years Later

Date

Thursday October 1

Time (Eastern Time)

2:00 PM  –  3:00 PM

Denmark was the only occupied country to actively resist the Nazi deportation of its Jewish citizens. On the 77th anniversary of the historic Danish Rescue that saved 7,200 Jews, we will convene the filmmakers of the 1991 film A Day in October – a dramatic and compelling resistance narrative that brings one Jewish family’s story to life. The rescue operation will be examined in comparative perspective with insights from screenwriter Damian Slattery, director Kenneth Madsen, and two actors from the film: Tovah Feldshuh and Kelly Wolf. The conversation will be moderated by Wagner Holocaust Center Director Lori Weintrob.

While A Day in October is not yet available for online streaming, this program intends to generate awareness to make it available to the public.

This is a joint program of the Museum of Jewish Heritage and Wagner College Holocaust Center.
