Date

Tuesday February 21

Time (Eastern Time)

12:30 PM  –  1:30 PM

In the new book Arthur Miller: American Witness from Yale's Jewish Lives series, distinguished theater critic John Lahr brings a unique perspective to the life of Arthur Miller, the playwright who almost singlehandedly brought twentieth century American theater to a new level of cultural sophistication. Organized around the fault lines of Miller's life and concentrating largely on his most prolific decades of the 1940s through the 1960s, Lahr provides an original interpretation of Miller's work, personality, and legacy. Lahr will be in conversation with award-winning playwright John Guare.

John Lahr has been a contributor to the New Yorker since 1991, where for twenty-one years he was its senior drama critic. He is the author of eighteen books, including Tennessee Williams: Mad Pilgrimage of the Flesh, which won a National Book Critics Circle Award for Biography.

John Guare's plays include The House of Blue Leaves, A Free Man of Color, Six Degrees of Separation, A Few Stout Individuals, and Landscape of the Body.
