Paris' Jewish history is long-storied, and this livestreamed, virtual tour will start in the Middle Ages. Explore the Marais, where the heart of Paris' Jewish community lies, and delve into its history, including the dramatic events of the late nineteenth century when a large number of Jewish immigrants arrived, fleeing pogroms in Russia. Discuss, too, the Nazi occupation of the city that began in 1940 and see the Shoah memorial and the synagogue of Pave Street. Finally, explore the modern Jewish community and life on the bustling Rue des Rosiers. Co-presented with Wowzitude.
